Flowers in her hair

Monday soon comes around again but I had a fun and busy weekend. With it being mothers day yesterday I went all domesticated and cooked a roast for the family AND made a cake from scratch. I don't do baking so I was pretty impressed that it was actually edible.

I also managed to fit in a little shoot with my lovely sister yesterday. We wandered around Keele campus with my Chinon and Polaroid camera, it was warm and sunny which was a bonus. I'm waiting for my 35mm films to be developed but thought I'd share my Polaroids, taken on impossible project film. It's such an unpredictable film so I was thrilled with what came out!

California Dreaming

USA! USA! I love America. Love love love it, I'd move there today if I could.
The first time I went to America was back in 2007 to Disney World Florida with my boyfriend and his family. We had such a good time we booked up to go again in 2008 as soon as we got home. Jump to a few months later, both of us were unhappy in our crappy jobs and felt like we needed to do something exciting. So we decided to scrimp and save so we could extend our two week holiday in Florida to a ten week trip across America, it was amazing!

We got the travel bug and as soon as we got back to the UK we got boring temp jobs and started planning our return trip the following year, we went again for a month in 2009. In 2010 we went back againnnn, this time for a family holiday to Florida. We then went cold turkey in 2011 and 2012 so we could be sensible and actually save our money for boring stuff that you're supposed to buy when you're a grown up, like a house, snoooooze.

So we were super excited to go back to America last September and even more thrilled when my best friend and her boyfriend said they'd love to come along to! We decided we wanted to go to California, starting in San Francisco, driving down the California coast to Los Angeles and stopping off in Big Sur along the way. It was epic! California is beautiful, every turn is a photo opportunity and I took a hell of a lot of photos along the way. So I thought I'd share some over a few posts.

First off we flew to San Francisco where we camped out for four nights in the most amazing apartment I've ever stayed in. It was just around the corner from the Castro, San Francisco's famous gay district. We spent our days exploring the streets, walking until our legs felt ready to drop off, eating pizza and more pizza, taking a trip to Alcatraz and cycling over San Francisco bridge. That was a definate highlight! Espesically since we got to do it with two other friends who happened to be in San Francisco at the same time.

It's such an amazing city. We did alot whilst we were there but I could definitely go back and find a hundred more things to do that we didn't get chance to.

These are just "a few" photos from our time there all shot on film using my Chinon SLR, Instax 210, Instax mini and my Kodak point and shoot.....

I'd love to see any of your holiday photos shot on film, send me your links! :)

Seeing Double

Hii. It's been a abit of a slow Tuesday for me so I thought I'd share some images taken for Jessica Shaw's Blue Utopia collection last year. These were all taken on my Diana +

I love a good double exposure, what about you?

Go give Jess's Facebook page a like if you love pretty clothes, she's crazy talented and makes them all by hand. My awesome friend Leanne Findler just shot her brand new collection Dreams of Lolita. Go check it out :)

Sunday Skies

Happy Sunday!

Hope everyone's enjoying their weekends. Mine's been lovely, catching up with friends and hanging out with my nephew.

As I talked about in my previous post Look Up, I've got a big collection of pictures of various skies. So I thought I'd try and do a regular Sunday post featuring some of my images :]

Hope you enjoy....

Birthday in Bakewell

Last month was my sister's 30th Birthday, she wanted to do something special to celebrate so I suggested we go to Harthill Hall in the peak district. It's a group of holiday cottages set in the beautiful English countryside, just a ten minute drive from the cute town of Bakewell. Home of the bakewell tart!

I went with a group 12 friends last year and we had such a fun time. We stayed in the biggest cottage called The Barn. It had 6 bedrooms, a games room and a Jacuzzi! We loved it, there was plenty of room for us all and the picture frame around the living room window was amazing. Made you feel like you were looking at a big painting rather than out the window.

There is even a spa and a swimming pool onsite which we made use of. Here's a collage of some pics from last year taken on my trusty kodak point and shoot, my chinon slr and my instax mini 25 Polaroid.....

So after I had so much fun last year with my friends I thought it would be the perfect place for Lucy to celebrate her birthday. Luckily she loved it!

We stayed in one of the smaller cottages this time called the cokaynes. It was lovely inside, will a huge dining room, 4 bedrooms and of a jacuzzi again! The weather wasn't that great this time around but we were determined to get in the jacuzzi at least once, we lasted about half an hour before the howling winds forced us to make a run for the indoor pool, followed by a sort stay in the sauna.

We had a lovely weekend relaxing, drinking tea, going for walks, messing about in the swimming pool and taking a lovely little trip into Bakewell.

I'd recommend Harthill Hall for anyone who want's a nice country getaway with a group of friends or just as a couple.

Here's some photos from last month jaunt...
